Jim Halsey

Jim Halsey, a native of Sparta and Alleghany County, is a retired, career Human Resources Professional and is now actively working as a real estate broker. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, he worked in textiles in Asheville, Winston-Salem, Galax, and Charleston, SC. Jim was recruited to relocate back to Sparta in 1994 to head the Human Resources Department at Bristol Compressors. When the plant closed, Jim ended his Human Resource career with Louisiana Pacific, a siding company in Roaring River, NC. As he worked with this company, he also assisted his wife in running Harmony Hill, a successful bed and breakfast for 26 years. In his retirement, he loves assisting out of towners and locals with their various real estate needs. Being a native of the area, he has a vast knowledge of the mountain real estate scene. Jim loves helping others find their dream home and assisting them with the detailed and often complicated process of relocation, while building a lasting relationship with his clients. Not only does he do real estate, but in his spare time, Jim volunteers in the community he loves and cherishes. He served many years on the Alleghany Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, the High Country Workforce Development Board, the Vestry at Christ Episcopal Church, and is now actively serving as a member of Sparta Forward, a non-profit designated for the betterment of the Town of Sparta.
